Leadership Message (July 2023)

July 26, 2023 By krda

It’s hard to believe we are now more than halfway through 2023. The KRDA team has been hard at work promoting and protecting Fort Knox and making sure our community does all that it can to support this premier military installation.

Senator McConnell’s recent visit to Fort Knox is a prime example of our work. We enjoy a strong relationship with Kentucky’s senior senator and his staff. We keep them and our entire congressional delegation apprised of the opportunities and challenges facing Fort Knox. Thanks to its central location, energy program, superior leadership, world-class training areas and ranges, and facilities, Fort Knox remains on the shortlist for several missions, but we know one of if not the single most limiting factor to growth is the capacity of Ireland Army Health Clinic. We appreciate Senator McConnell’s support in shining a spotlight on the dedicated members of Fort Knox MEDDAC and the sheer scope of their mission in the context of the clinic’s manpower authorizations and physical capacity. It was an added bonus for the KRDA board to enjoy lunch with the Senate Minority Leader before his visit to post.

We know that high-level visits like Senator McConnell’s are incredibly valuable, but providing opportunities to build an understanding of Fort Knox’s impact at the grassroots level is also important. Having partners like the Heart of Kentucky Association of Realtors and the Louisville Airport Authority that you’ve read about in this newsletter matters tremendously as well. Whether it’s local realtors, KRDA members, airport travelers, or leaders at the highest levels of government, KRDA is committed to telling the Fort Knox story to ensure the highest and broadest level of support for our region’s economic engine.

Warm Regards,

Marilyn and Jim
